Welcome to Project HTR
The HTR Project is a special international venture of our 501-C3 family foundation, The Foundation for Honey’s Children http://www.honeyschildren.org/programs.html located in California. Initially, we are focusing our efforts on the greater Lake Atitlan area and its surrounding communities comprising an aggregate population of approximately 46,000 over half of which are children under the age of 15. These people derive from the same mesoamerican mayan stock but have three distinct dialects spoken in the lake region. Given the grossly apparant problems associated with indoor air pollution and its associated impact on childrens health (1 of 5 children die from pneumonia before the age of 6 closely associated with chronic exposure to highly toxic indoor pollution) we have elected to build working relationships and trust with these families through the introduction of the Onil stoves into their households. All of our team speak not only spanish but the native tongue.
We feel and understand their mistrust of outsiders, they are a relationship based peoples, and we seek to build our most important assets (TRUST) through the introduction of the Onil Stove with effective systems of training, installation and maintenance to assure proper use. We intend to leverage trust to introduce improvements in agricultural technologies, clean water, nutritional education amongst other initiatives… Already we have installed 268 stoves in households in Santiago and Cierro de Oro and hope to have an additional 500 stoves installed by year end. We have ZERO administrative expenses. Please give us a hand with our efforts, donate $88.00 to have us install a stove in a families home.
